About Us: Pewcape – Ready-to-Wear Fashion, Designed for You

Pewcape originated from a straightforward idea by Mason Cross, a graphic design student who pondered, “Why work odd jobs when I could create and sell shirts online myself?”

From early designs printed on plain white tees, Mason explored small-scale production at home. Shirts that fit well, had decent material, and clear prints gained support from friends. From those initial orders, Pewcape was established with an aim to offer finished garments, stocked and ready, produced meticulously from the outset.

Our Operating Model: Direct from Our Workshop to Your Wardrobe

Pewcape operates on a Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) model, meaning no intermediaries and no reliance on external marketplaces. All products are sold directly from our in-house production facility to customers via our official website.

A notable aspect of our process is that we don’t wait for an order to begin production. Instead, every Pewcape design undergoes material selection, cutting, sewing, printing, and inspection beforehand, then moves to inventory. This means when you place an order, your finished shirt is already in stock, prepared for packing and immediate dispatch.

There is a sense that individuals might prefer receiving a well-made, well-designed, and correctly sized shirt sooner, rather than waiting days for custom production. This informs our focus on the ready-to-wear product line.

Our Main Products: Ready-to-Wear and Customization Services

Pewcape primarily focuses on T-shirt and sweatshirt collections, produced periodically based on seasons or specific design themes. All products are pre-produced – from fabric selection, tailoring, printing, to quality control – before being listed on the website for sale.

We opt for specific materials, such as soft, natural cotton for everyday T-shirts, and thick, lightly stretchy fleece for warm sweatshirts or those suitable for clear prints. Each garment is cut to a standard fit, designed for ease of wear and pairing, and available in common sizes. This helps customers acquire and use products promptly without further alterations.

This represents Pewcape’s core product focus, where considerable attention is given to materials, processes, design, and warehousing. Everything is pre-made; production does not occur on a per-order basis, nor is printing done only upon request. This approach seems to facilitate a quick experience, consistent quality, and practical satisfaction for the wearer.

Customization Services: This service is available to support customers seeking a more personalized item – perhaps for gifts, commemorative prints, or unique personal statements.

Production Process & Quality Control: Meticulous from the Start

At Pewcape, the product’s quality seems a foundational element in building customer confidence. Each stage of our production process is handled with care, from initial raw materials to the final product.

Sourcing Raw Materials: Careful Selection from the Beginning

The process begins with a crucial step: fabric selection. Pewcape engages with specific, established suppliers. These partners are recognized for material quality, clear origins, and consistent supply capabilities.

• Foam Cotton Co. – This entity provides premium natural cotton from the U.S. This fabric is noted for its softness, breathability, and suitability for sensitive skin, particularly for everyday T-shirts.

• PolarTex Mills – A supplier of high-density PE fleece. This material offers thickness, warmth retention, slight stretch, and a good surface for print adherence, making it suitable for pre-printed sweatshirt designs.

Upon arrival, all fabric is transported to our internal production facility at 1745 Penmar Ave, Venice, California. Here, each roll of fabric undergoes manual inspection to confirm it meets criteria for color, durability, stretch, and thickness, as well as compatibility with different garment types.

Raw materials are categorized based on their intended use:

• Soft, breathable cotton: allocated for basic T-shirt lines.

• Thick, lightly stretchy fleece: suitable for warm sweatshirts that require clear prints.

• Smooth, easy-to-print fabric: utilized for personalized orders requiring custom prints.

Careful input control and systematic categorization appear to contribute to production stability for bulk orders, while also maintaining flexibility for any custom order requirements that may arise.

Production: Proactive and Controlled

Unlike operations that produce only upon immediate order, Pewcape proactively manufactures all products in batches, even before orders are received. This approach facilitates a thorough process at each stage, supports quality control, and helps maintain available inventory.

• Cutting & Standardized Tailoring: Each garment is cut to a predefined pattern, aiming for a consistent fit, good drape, and versatility for various body types.

• Accurate Design Printing: Printing techniques are applied according to fabric type, aiming for durable color adherence and resilience after multiple washes.

• Detail Finishing: Seams, hems, cuffs, and print quality are monitored to help minimize small production flaws like loose threads or misaligned prints.

Upon completion, each garment undergoes a manual inspection by our internal Quality Control team. This involves inspecting each individual item – checking stitching, print flatness, fabric color consistency, and the garment’s form – before it’s placed into ready-to-ship inventory, awaiting immediate fulfillment.

For personalized orders, such as custom prints, design modifications, or tailored sizing, Pewcape follows a separate process. This includes: receiving the request, consulting and confirming the design, proceeding with individual production, then conducting a final inspection and manual packing. Processing times generally range from 1–2 business days, depending on complexity. This is a supplementary service, carried out individually, intended to address personal customization needs flexibly without affecting core operations with ready-to-wear items.

Pewcape collaborates with recognized shipping partners in the U.S., including USPS, UPS, or FedEx, to help ensure prompt and secure delivery of orders. The choice of partner may depend on the destination and desired delivery speed, aiming to optimize time and cost.

Each order receives a tracking number, sent to you via email upon packing. This allows for checking shipping status at any time and facilitates contact if issues arise.

Lean and Dedicated Operations Team

Pewcape is managed by a relatively small internal team of 4 core members, who handle design, production, quality control, and customer support. Additionally, we work with tailors, printers, and packers on a project basis – individuals who have a sustained involvement with our production processes.

Despite its size, the Pewcape team operates with a focus on efficiency, proactivity, and specialization, maintaining a diligent yet adaptable approach to work. Each team member often assumes multiple roles and maintains awareness of various stages in the operational chain – from material sourcing and production to order reception and customer communication.

There is an effort to cultivate a supportive, equitable, and accountable work environment, where team members are respected, profit-sharing is transparent, and contributions to brand development are considered. Production collaborators receive timely payment, based on completed orders, and are considered for re-engagement if product quality standards are met.
